The Stivers Jazz Orchestra is comprised of 7-12 graders from Stivers School for the Arts.  Under the direction of Claude Lucien Thomas since 1995, they have been awarded grand prize honors and consistently perform at a near-professional level.  At Stivers School for the Arts, students learn all facets of the arts through participation, not only on stage, but also behind the scenes.


March 14, 2010 - 3 p. m. Stivers School for the Arts Classical Pianists

Six Stivers Pianists will present a concert that includes  a repetorie of classical pieces from Debussy, Chopin, Rachmaninoff  and  others.


Stivers School for the Arts' Piano Department offers serious young pianists in grades 7-12 a unique opportunity to be in an intensive and varied program.  Our Piano Magnet has 15 full size Kawai keyboards, one six ft. Steinway Grand and two additional Kawai Grands for students use. In additioan; we have two Concert uprights.

Our department cultivates complete musicianship skills, which include: piano performance techniques with expressive playing, written theory skills, knowledge of Music history, and concerts deportment. 
Our mission is to foster musical, educational, personal, and social development thruogh solo and group preparation and performance.

Stivers' Pianists compete annually at the OMEA (Ohio Music Educator Association) Copmpetition and the OMTA (Ohio Music Teachers Association_ Scales Contest at Wright State University. Stivers' Pianists perform an average of 15 concerts per year across the Miami Valley.  In the Spring they will be performing on the cruise ship "celebration"
